Barry Duffield is an actor, writer, and creator best known to fans around the world for his unforgettable portrayal of Lugo, the steel-willed German warrior in the hit series Spartacus: Vengeance and Spartacus: War of the Damned. A fan-favourite from the moment he stepped onto the sands of the arena, Barry’s blend of power, humour, and raw intensity turned Lugo into one of the franchise’s most beloved rebels.

Born in England, raised in Australia’s rugged Northern Territory, and later based in New Zealand, Barry brings a lifetime of extraordinary experiences to his work — from his years in the Royal Australian Air Force to bodybuilding championships and a long creative career in film and television. His acting credits include iconic genre staples such as Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, commercials like the cult-favourite ALAC “If You’re a Buddy” campaign, and numerous New Zealand productions.

On the convention circuit, Barry is known not just for Lugo but for the stories behind the scenes — from training with the legendary Spartacus stunt team, to life on set with Liam McIntyre, Manu Bennett, and the entire rebel cast.
